On November 7th, 2016, we were made aware of a data security incident that exposed member information. We took immediate measures to disable the server and a digital forensics team was engaged to investigate. CHPW also notified the FBI, the Washington State Health Care Authority, and the Washington State Office of Insurance Commissioner.

On November 30th, the forensics team confirmed unauthorized access to member records. The information accessed includes names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and coding information related to health care claims.

As a community-based health plan, our top priority is taking care of our members. We deeply regret this incident and any concern it may cause you. We want to assure you that we take your privacy and security very seriously.
