In the fall of 1992, Washington’s community health centers voted to create the not-for-profit managed care company — Community Health Plan of Washington. Our plan membership grew from 14,000 members in 1993 to over 300,000 currently.
We are the only not-for-profit health plan in the state founded by local community health centers. This network brought together shared values for equal access to health care, years of experience in community organizing, and effective health care administration. This means our members have access to first-class medical care — and it's just down the street.
Our network includes:
- 19 Community Health Centers that operate more than 130 clinic sites
- More than 2,500 primary care providers
- More than 14,000 contracted medical specialists
- More than 100 hospitals
